Objectives:

The Level 5 Advanced National Diploma in Information Technology is designed to build on foundational IT knowledge, with a focus on developing advanced technical and managerial skills. The program aims to equip learners with the expertise to analyse, design, implement, and manage IT solutions in complex organisational settings. Students will gain a deeper understanding of emerging technologies, business processes, and strategic IT management. The course also emphasises critical thinking, leadership, and decision-making skills, enabling learners to lead teams and projects effectively. Graduates will be prepared to progress into specialised roles, such as systems management, cybersecurity, or business analytics, or pursue further studies in IT and related disciplines.

Description

Entry Requirements:

This is a stand-alone qualification with specific entry requirements. Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Hold an LMQ Level 4 Diploma in Information Technology.
  • Possess a qualification at Level 4 or above, as listed on the UK’s National Qualifications Framework (NQF) or Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
  • Have achieved SCQF Level 6 or 7 in Information Technology or equivalent national qualifications within the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).
  • Hold an overseas qualification deemed equivalent to a Level 4 qualification in the UK (or higher) as assessed by UK NARIC.

Progression:

Successful candidates will have extensive opportunities to progress to higher-level qualifications, including degree-level programs. Options include:

  • LMQ Level 6 Graduate Diploma in Information Technology

Since this qualification is equivalent to Level 5 (QCF/RQF), candidates are also eligible for direct entry into the 3rd Year of Bachelor’s degree programs.
